Ready to set sail? Hermès says to raise the anchor (“levez l’ancre”) and embark into waters as blue as the color of this silk twill tie. Hand-sewn in France, the design features Hermès links, which have been a signature symbol of the brand for over 75 years. Taking a walk along the Normandy shore in 1938, Robert Dumas, son-in-law to Emile Hermès, was fascinated by the anchor chains boatsmen were pulling from the sea. The scene inspired Dumas to create the “chain d’ancre” pattern, seen today by the links on this tie.
