Abstract:
This thesis explores the principles of phenomenology and post-modern thought, as well as the application of historical narrative, in order to determine how a sense of authenticity can be generated in hospitality design. The ultimate goal is to provide a set of prescriptive guidelines to help instill a sense of the authentic into a newly built environment. Information is gathered through the use of interviews, surveys, photo analysis and historical research to inform the strategic design process.
