Abstract:
This thesis explores an interactive country retreat for New York's inner-city kids. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. provides
an environment for children that is convenient enough for a weekend-getaway or multi-week program
during the summer months. It is designed for 9-15 year-olds to experience a new ecological environment; one
where they will develop their art reading comprehensive and writing skills. The campus grounds will feature
one main facility that will enhance a child's creativity among a rural community. Research on education,
camps, and urban/rural communities will be used to support the retreat design.
