Abstract:
Through the use of digital matte painting and its techniques, my thesis is a personal journey
exploring and creating my own mental photographs of my childhood. Those memories have been
recreated into a digital world, using my archived snapshots for my own stories to be shared. By
exploring my own past and memories alongside the history of matte painting, the power of
storytelling through matte paintings and its prevalent presence in the visual effects industry
introduced my exploration of its future abreast my own, solidifying techniques and successful
matte painting workflows.
