Abstract:
|
This thesis is an investigation into the relationship between light and health, and how architecture can be used as a medium to stimulate the healing process. The specific user group for this project was those diagnosed with musculoskeletal diseases, a group of diseases that currently have no proven medical cure. With emphasis on the human experience through materiality and building systems, this thesis aims to drastically alter the negative connotation that exists with musculoskeletal treatment facilities and to raise awareness about the power of alternative and complementary “medicine” for these diseases.
