Abstract:
The architectural detail can be found at varying scales throughout a building. It is the sum of these parts that make up the whole, and
the way in which they are executed that contribute to the building’s success. It is at these moments that architecture is expressed,
yet detail design and construction methods are not emphasized in the typical educational model. Through an iterative process
of drawing and full scale fabrication we can understand how materials join to create unique details. Mastering fundamental
construction techniques through this iterative process will create better designers, streamline professional practice, and bring validity
to our role as architects.
