Abstract:
"This thesis focuses on turning an animal rescue facility or event into an educational and entertaining experience. The primary goal is to create an exhibition, called Transitional Tails, that will unite digital gaming and live action experiences with the animals at the facility or event. The exhibition itself will be modular and have the capability of having components set up in a permanent rescue facility or transported for setup at rescue events. Geared toward children ages 5 to 17, the content of the exhibition will shed light on the needs of domestic animals and the important role they play in the lives of humans. It will also act in favor of both the guests and rescue animals by educating guests through the service of the local animal rescue groups and facilities hosting the exhibition. Furthermore, this thesis will explore the possible impact of a digital experience reinforced by hands-on learning in an attempt to create a lifelong understanding of animal needs. The end goal is to create an experience prototype that will fit into a variety of locations in order to educate the public and provide a service to the hosting rescue facility or group."
