Abstract:
"Animation is a visual medium. However, it is a form of visual storytelling, and writing is often overlooked in the process of creating animated films. A good story is the foundation of a great animated film, and the basis of great storytelling is writing in its many forms (note taking, screenwriting, dialogue, and other forms such as adaption of various written texts). Using the case study of adaptions in short animated film, I intend to demonstrate why and how adaptations of written works are made, why and how they are effective, how the written story enhances the animation, and how the animation enhances the written story."
