Abstract:
"That I should find my way to chemography at this point in my life and studies is by the virtue of my resilience and desire to become an effective artist. Chemography has revealed much to me, strengthening my appreciation for the quest of self-actualization, creativity, and making art. The validation of what can be gained through play, passion and the drive to create. Discoveries that lead to revelations, decoding long held beliefs about the person I would become. The work that is 'Transcendent' has, like aligning tumblers, unlocked the realm of possibilities through the understanding of the interrelationship between play, personal history, process and the production of art; art that can be transcendent. The visual products that are Transcendent have for me become portals and at times safe harbors and as such, grant me connections to the unconscious and to some of my most displaced memories. They have become a healing force through the engagement of the process that produces them. Play is crucial to the process, leading to discovery that empowers me to rewrite the affects of past trauma. The works are interacting chemicals arranged in varied and spontaneous fashion, exposed to light, that yield unpredictable results. Organic shaped scenes, allowing one to inspect and consider their realities and the conscious intent to master their art."
