Abstract:
"This thesis study pursues a direction of improvement in contemporary fashion design by applying traditional Korean cultural heritage. This study examines the characteristics in the beauty of Korean cultural elements in order to use them accurately so other countries can recognize them. This study researches Korean designers who have designed using the Korean traditional cultural heritage such as Sang Bong Lie and Young Hee Lee. Also, this study analyzes how they have approached their designs and how they have succeeded in the global fashion scene. Through my research and practice, I will show how international designs can incorporate traditional Korean cultural heritage in order to broaden a new idea of contemporary fashion. I will contribute to the broadening of materials for design and show the possibilities that Korean designs can contribute to the originality and identity of a culture."
