Abstract:
"Motion Design in the 21st century has many tools that can be used for visual expression. It is
because of this access to new technology that a need has emerged for a more authentic feeling in
motion media design. To create this connection for the viewer, designers have taken the digital
process and combined it with an artisanal approach. The combination of these two styles has
developed into a new category coined by Justin Cone as 'analog ambiguity'. Analog ambiguity
functions as a rich resource for motion designers in its ability to create a nostalgic feeling
whether the design was created digitally and/or by hand."
