"This thesis focuses on the complexities of meanings behind the theme home for the
military community. The aim of this thesis is to place home in context, and evaluate the
military as a genre in art. Defining home as an experience, is not aimed to discredit the
physical idea of home, but instead to show the symbolic characteristics it creates for the
