Abstract:
"2D effects can play an important role assisting the character animation telling the story. It usually acts as secondary elements beside characters on the stage. This paper highlights important factors which constitute traditional animated effects, analyzes the relationship between them, the characters and story setting, and how they help tell the stories from several different animation films in various ways."

Includes original animated film "The Kelpie", which "tells a story about a wounded man meeting a spirit with horse shape in the forest. It was inspired by the fictional creature called Kelpie from Scotland mythology."
