Abstract:
"This thesis will focus on the use of silhouettes, as design elements, to be incorporated in mise-en-scène, while encouraging free association, by allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves into the character narrative in order to enhance the emotional component of the film."
Abstract:
Includes the author's short animated film "In Vaine," which uses color, gesture, and silhouette to create an ambiguous environment in which audience members may interpret the film through the filter of their own experience, giving them "power and freedom" to be active participants instead of passive viewers.--Paraphrased from the author's conclusion.
