Abstract:
|
"Currently, design management as a discipline is rarely offered in the Chinese university system. Chinese educators are unable to combine advanced design knowledge from Western countries with the demands of Chinese culture, economics, politics, and education. Therefore, current progress is limited to incorporating knowledge from the U.S. and Europe. As a Chinese graduate student studying design management abroad in the U.S., I have learned valuable knowledge in this field and have begun to find my real passion for better integrating design management methodology into the Chinese design education system in universities. There are almost no existing theses studying in the area of design management education in China written in English, while the quality of the Chinese textbooks and research papers related to design management varies dramatically. Through the exploration of my thesis, I try to come up with an appropriate solution to transform the current Chinese design education system and assist Chinese enterprises with their transformation from 'made in China' suppliers to 'created by China' innovators."
