Abstract:
"From this thesis I hope that the world will understand the benefits travel can bring to our everyday lives, and that we do not need money or even all the time in the world to feel the cultural impact of destinations across the globe. Recent research from San Francisco State University found that people who spent money on experiences rather than material items were happier and felt the money was better spent. The experiences and benefits we gain from travel will last a lifetime, and through this series of programming we give more people the opportunity to benefit from exposure to new cultures without having to spend an excess of time or money. I hope this study will inspire others to learn about new cultures, and continue to stress the importance of learning and growth that travel can bring to us all. The destinations inspiring this thesis are Angkor Wat, Joshua Tree, Bora Bora the Swiss Alps, Queenstown, and India (for the celebration of Holi). This programming provides a solution to long international flights and not easily accessible destinations for Americans."
