Abstract:
"This thesis aims to create additional housing accommodations by proposing a new three-story, fully immersive, suite-style housing option for Give Kids the World Village. Incorporating fully accessible design, the units will feature a kitchen and dining area, living room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Taking inspiration from the layout of the existing 'Banyan Park' accommodations, this structure will be designed vertically in the hopes of accommodating more guests while utilizing less space than the original villas on property, thereby leaving more room for future growth and expansion. This thesis will explore the benefits of nature and themed environments on the health and well-being of children with life-threatening illnesses as well as push the boundaries of design for disability, accessibility, and universal design. This proposal will also feature a fully immersive design and story for both the exterior and interior, differing from their existing un-themed housing properties. The goal in doing so is to create a seamless immersive experience covering the full duration of the guests’ time at the Village."
