Abstract: 
Medical illustration serves as the visual intermediary between scientific data and the audience. The goal of the medical illustrator is to convey anatomical and scientific information in an accurate, yet visually enticing manner. Because medical illustration is a visual art, artistic license can play a significant role in the success or failure of an illustration as a pedagogic means.
Abstract: 
This thesis focused on highlighting sentiments reflected by numerous scholars throughout the history of medical imaging. Most notably, the inclusion of the artist in the process of conveying scientific, anatomical, and biological information to an audience is important, also proving that educational qualities are left intact.
