Abstract:
"The rise of Globalization widened the business landscape and brought in integration between people, business and governments across the globe. This competitive landscape, brought various changes in consumer behavior, market needs and technology which got added on to the increase of uncertainty. Thus, organizations had to change their strategic and managerial practices to be able to sustain long term. Open Innovation is one such strategy that organizations have agreed to have benefited from. Despite the enormous benefits that it is said to have, the concept of Open Innovation and Management of Innovation is still in its infancy stage, exploring how organizations guide its business units and the processes it follows to manage the knowledge flow. Additionally, the research conducts a qualitative exploration research to understand ways as to how Design Management as a field and Design Management methods could contribute to the area of Knowledge Management and Open Innovation to mitigate the current organizational challenges. As a result, I created a solution toolkit 'Transitioning through uncertainty' in hopes of guiding the organizations to mitigate the managerial challenges in an open paradigm."
