Abstract:
"This thesis focuses on closing the gap between Indian artisans and the technologically informed generation Z through the design of an innovative handicrafts center that preserves culture. India is a culturally rich country and is home to several, varied art forms. Such handicraft skills pose as a source of primary income for a large part of the rural population. This thesis aims to explore and identify issues faced by traditional craftsmen in India and to address those issues in an interior space that can celebrate, support, and further the craftsperson’s as well as a visitor’s exposure to crafts and arts. The core of this project is to create a sustainable platform for the arts and heritage of India and to ensure the continual transmission of knowledge from one generation to another."
