Abstract:
"This thesis will explore the notions and ideologies of futility in labor within my artwork. Labor is defined as 'work'. Work is a broad term because it could mean physical work, domestic work, mundane work, and so on. By analyzing existentialism and the work of contemporary artists in parallels to my own artwork, one is able to understand the intersectionality of the meaningful and
the trivial through laborious action. This is done by analyzing key subcomponents that explore materiality, gender, and social action. It ensures the significant connection to the argument of 'accomplishing nothing is accomplishing everything' within a futile world." --Abstract
