Abstract:
"Sports and exercise are at the core of the Swedish culture. In recent years, the population and urbanization have increased beyond the increase in recreational and sports facilities' infrastructure. The existing facilities cannot keep up with the demand and not enough new facilities are created. The cities are getting denser as new housing and office developments are priorities over recreational facilities. Soon there won't be any space left in the cities for both greenspaces and large recreational fields. Sports and recreational activity are part of Sweden's public health, but currently, there's a problem with easy access to some of these facilities. The existing model does not perform well enough. Thus there is a need for a proposal for a better typology of athletic spaces. Therefore there's a need for a building typology that can meet the demand of the ever‐increasing utilization of these athletic facilities." --Abstract
