Abstract:
Due to a series of social changes, classic Chinese/Taiwanese poetry underwent a rise and fall in Taiwan. At present, classic Chinese/Taiwanese literature and poetry however, are at risk. The remaining classic poetry practitioners are dying out, and the younger generation has lost familiarity and identification with classic poetry. How to pass on the rich cultural legacy is an urgent issue for future generations of Taiwanese people.
Abstract:
With the abandoned house as a shell, the poetry center will feature an artist-in-residence, inviting the still remaining poets, calligraphers and other artists related to this classic art form to visit and stay. The center will provide an education program and exhibition for the local schools and community. Through face to face experience in this space, the artists’ work will impress and inspire visitors. Through the intimate interaction between the artists and the participants, friendships can be established to help enhance the visibility of both these artists and the traditional art.
