Abstract:
In my thesis body of work titled Traces I use painting, photography, and printmaking processes to visualize time, memory, history, and entropy in my environment. Traces references my personal experience and engagement of South Western Connecticut. Through Historic research and observations of my hometown, New Canaan, CT, the work reflects the deeper awareness beyond my timeline and into that of the environments. I explore the past to understand my
present, prompting an array of image manipulation and deconstruction.
This body of work starts from a personal connection and documentation of the environment that then leads into research for a deeper understanding of the context of the land. These
environments are places that are rooted in my history that map visual points of an environment that I know.
