Abstract:
“This thesis aims to research Chinese aesthetic philosophies and the manifestation of them in fashion. Developing traditional Chinese philosophies in the process of garment construction, this women’s ready-to-wear collection is designed for consumers who seek a sensorial connection with Chinese philosophical culture. Macroscopically, this thesis will join the ongoing dialogue between western and eastern aesthetics and serve to output Chinese cultural identities. Focusing on an implicit design language, this collection incorporates ideas such as the combination of solid and void, multidimensional space wandering, and circular connection. Through prints, laser-cutting patterns, layering, and interwoven knots, these aesthetic philosophies are poetically transformed on garments.” -- Abstract
