Abstract:
"In connection with my thesis film, Iridescence, and other examples, this thesis examines representations of the artistic process in poetic cinema. It analyzes the narrative and formal technique of duality and the alchemical process of transformation used by experimental and poetic filmmakers to address the motif of the artist's journey. Ultimately, the dissection of this motif reveals sociopolitical, cultural, aesthetic and economic concerns regarding the contemporary moving image arts and their effect on society at large." --Abstract
