Abstract:
"Historically, Hollywood has partnered with the Department of Defense to propagandize a fixed opinion on the courage and strength of the United States military displayed on the silver screen. The United States armed forces consists of a highly male-dominated atmosphere with multiple flaws in its judicial system, specifically concerning incidents of sexual assault. Despite recent executive orders to establish reform within military ranks passed by legislation, representation of these stories has been lacking in films distributed by Hollywood in the past few years. The film industry has failed to accurately advocate for an entire demographic of women warriors who survived in a man's world for over two hundred years. December 2023 marked a new executive order that provides independent assistance for victims of sexual assault; however, a film that potentially discusses such a topic contradicts the propagandized image of America's military." --Abstract
