Abstract:
"This thesis will explore granular synthesis as the key component in the music creation process. The project will utilize Ableton Live alongside an array of granular synthesis plugins to explore the limits of this technology. The aim of this project is to develop a set of thematic songs that utilize related pre-granulated sounds to explore the interesting results presented through the process of granulation. This process will involve selecting a theme such as a thunderstorm and granulating related sounds such as thunder strikes, wind blowing, birds chirping, rain and so forth. This process will allow a level of restriction going into the granulation process which will demonstrate the flexibility and capabilities of this method of synthesis." --Abstract
