Abstract:
"This thesis explores a positive approach towards waiting spaces in mass public transit by Metro in Pune City. Public transport has proven to be of great help to humans for their physical and mental health and the planet's sustainability. Creating a destination that not only serves the transit but also the residents is efficient and profitable. Choosing public transport allows more energy and focus to be preserved for the important work to be done in the day than the energy and stress put into driving a car or reaching a certain destination. It creates a healthy atmosphere for the mind to be prepared and to look forward to the day. An inviting transit station and the benefits of using it can last for a whole day for one to be productive in the important work where the energy spent is valuable. The study aims to find out how architectural design links to mobility while enhancing the well-being of users and sustainability in design. The waiting areas, also called junk spaces, are often neglected for their atmosphere. The involvement of stations serves the transit network system and is a focal point for community growth." --Abstract
