Abstract:
"This graduate thesis explores emergent and continually developing algorithmic noise reduction technology by utilizing it for the dialogue editing of a student short film. The author begins by introducing the topic of artificial intelligence and defines terminology. Then, a brief history of both machine listening and noise reduction, followed by a discussion of contemporary algorithmic noise reduction technology. The implementation of these technologies for dialogue editing a student short film is detailed. The author concludes by summarizing findings from research and practice and considers the future of this technology." --Abstract
