Abstract:
“This essay will begin with research on typical games available in the market. Then, it will analyze the prevalent typical or stereotypical tropes in these games, identify the cultural factors that contribute to them, and explain their reasons for existing. Based on this research and analysis, the essay will further discuss the cultural elements rarely seen in games and how artists can incorporate them to create new classics. The project's visual component will focus on game character design and concept design in digital format. While some historical or pop cultural elements, such as medieval or cyberpunk, become overused in video game art and lead to stereotypical tropes, others are underrepresented. It is valuable and exciting for artists to understand which elements dominate the game market and why. Meanwhile, artists must consider breaking the shackles, incorporating less explored cultural elements, and creating new impressions.” –Abstract
