Abstract:
“This thesis process book presents the creation of an illustrated adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's short story The Hound, with a focus on visual storytelling. The project seeks to delve into Eldritch Horror genre, translating them from text into visual narratives. This project focuses on its central theme of the fear of the unknown. This includes the development of visual concepts and storyboards, aiming to capture the story's unsettling atmosphere. The image making process involved experiments on mimicking traditional textures by digital tools, allowing for a rich and textured visual representation. The illustrated adaptation of The Hound is an experiment on balancing the known and the unknown with images. It aims to invite readers to engage with the narrative on a deeper level while keeping the abstract expression of the monster from the original story.” –Abstract Keywords: book illustration, horror, graphic novel, Lovecraft, weird fiction, Eldritch Horror, visual storytelling.
