Description:

Pictures taken at the Dege Parkhang, a printing temple located in Ganze Autonomous Prefecture in western China, in August of 2006. Pilgrims circumambulating the exterior of the temple, some carrying prayer wheels with their mantras spinning into the ether, are performing kora, an act of devotion and honor to the books housed therein. Consists of 17 separate double-sided leaves, off-set printed, stacked as in a traditional Tibetan book structure. Cloth covered boards, top and bottom. Screen print in silver of the font Meador developed from his photographs of pilgrims applied to the top board. Title on cloth printed in Meador's font inset into top board. Wrapped in a yellow Tibetan-style cloth and tied with a ribbon.
